Konnie Kordish Q&A

Who was your childhood idol? Why?
My mother and my father were, and they still are. My mother’s mental strength is unwavering, and she always sets the example. My father is the one that coached me all through childhood and was the one in the yard or at the field with me practicing and perfecting my skills.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My entire family but mostly my son, who encourages me to continue this journey and to set the example.
Who is your favorite NFL player? Why?
Jerome Bettis of the Pittsburgh Steelers. His leadership and unselfishness had a major impact on his teammates and their gameplay.
What is your favorite book
The playbook!
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Leader, motivational, aggressive.
What was the first sport you ever played?
What is your favorite sports memory?
As a child, it was having an undefeated softball season and earning that championship. There is no feeling in the world like that, and no one can ever take it away from you. As an adult, it was being named Blocker of the Year in 2012 and 2013 for my individual team and being named Blocker of the Year in 2013 for the entire league with Nova Roller Derby.
If you could play any other position, which one would you choose? Why?
Linebacker! I like to hit! All positions in football are important, as it is a team effort, but my favorite side of the ball is most definitely the defense!
Why do you play women’s tackle football?
I love this game and I want to do my part to make a difference in the world. Women should be recognized as legitimate athletes, no matter what sport they play.
