Amanda Congialdi Q&A

Who is your biggest supporter?
My teammates on the Divas.
If you could have a conversation with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose? Why?
My brother who passed away in 2015.
Who is your female sports idol?
I respect all female athletes who come to work every day and aspire to be the best athletes they can be.
Who is your favorite NFL player? Why?
Aaron Rodgers…I feel that his mobility and elite arm make him the best in the league.
What are your favorite hobbies or special interests?
I’ve always been a writer since I was young. I also enjoy playing the piano from time to time, and I have a huge love for playing basketball.
What is your favorite movie?
The Lion King.
What is your favorite TV show?
The L Word.
What is your favorite travel location?
Florida.
What is your favorite food?
Mac and cheese.
Who is your favorite musician or group?
Usher and Ed Sheeran.
What is your favorite quote?
“In life, if you don’t risk anything, you risk everything.”
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Passionate, competitive, driven.
What are your lifetime aspirations?
To play for Team USA one day, and to become involved with professional sports somehow. I am also hopeful that women’s football will become a professional sport one day.
What was the first sport you ever played?
Football.
What is your favorite sports memory?
My freshman year in college, our basketball team was trailing the three-time defending champions in the championship game. They were looking to win their fourth straight title, but we overcame a 13-point deficit with five minutes to go. With the game tied at 54, I made the game-winning three-pointer with six seconds remaining to win the game.
How did you hear about women’s football?
The owner of the Philadelphia Firebirds lived around the corner from me, and I saw a flyer for tryouts on the door of our corner market.
Why do you want to play women’s football?
I honestly want to play just for the love of the game. Admittedly, it feels great to be able to “prove” something to outsiders of women’s football who are looking in, but it feels even better to prove to yourself that you are able to reach your full potential.
What does it mean to you to be a D.C. Diva?
It means that I have a chance to start over, learn new perspectives, and create new, everlasting friendships. I’ve always felt that the absolute greatest thing about playing women’s football is not necessarily the actual playing of the game but the friendships you build and the memories you create. Those are the things that really stick with you forever, and the opportunity to create those relationships lies here in DC with the Divas.
