Dr. Thomas Howard Bio

Dr. Thomas Howard was the Divas’ longtime team doctor with a special interest in concussion management, working with high school and university teams in addition to the Divas. He earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) School of Medicine, and he completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine from the USUHS and the Nirschl Orthopedic Sports Clinic in Arlington, Virginia.

Dr. Howard held several leadership positions throughout his career, including serving as the program director at VCU-Fairfax Family Practice Sports Medicine and a faculty member at VCU-Fairfax. He was also the Director of the Family Health Center of Fort Belvoir and the Assistant Director of the Primary Sports Medicine Fellowship at DeWitt Army Community Hospital. In addition, Dr. Howard authored three books on sports medicine and sports injuries.

After nearly a decade with the team, Dr. Howard left the D.C. area to become the Assistant Director of Health Services at N.C. State University.
