April 25, 2014 – The D.C. Divas welcomed their 5,000th fan today to the club’s official page on Facebook. The Divas’ Facebook following is the largest of any team in the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA), the top competitive league in women’s football.

The Divas’ Facebook page, “D.C. Divas Football,” was founded in February 2010 and reached 1,500 fans within weeks of its launch. Since then, the page has naturally built a loyal audience of women’s football fans over the past several years. With features such as real-time game updates, player photos, coverage of Divas events, and stories from around women’s football, the D.C. Divas Facebook page attracts not only fans of the Divas but supporters of all women’s sports.

“Surpassing the 5,000 fan mark on Facebook was one of our pre-season social media goals,” Divas General Manager Rich Daniel acknowledged. “It’s another indicator of the outstanding fans who have supported us on this incredible journey. Congratulations to all of them on helping us lead the league in Facebook fans!”
