April 9, 2010 – The D.C. Divas, Washington, DC’s championship women’s full-contact football team, welcomed their 1,500th fan today to the club’s official fan page on the social networking site Facebook. The Divas’ Facebook page, “D.C. Divas Football,” was launched just seven weeks ago and now serves as the digital domain for the team’s multimedia content and an interactive hub between the organization and D.C. Divas fans.
“When we invited our fans less than two months ago to follow the Divas on Facebook, we expected a strong response – and our fans delivered in a big way,” said Divas General Manager Rich Daniel. “With the kickoff of our tenth anniversary season just hours away, there’s a genuine energy and growing anticipation surrounding D.C. Divas football. Our players and fans are excited about the season ahead and ready to tee it up this Saturday night.”
In addition to the Divas hitting the 1,500 fan mark on Facebook, the club also announced today it will provide in-game Twitter updates during this Saturday night’s home opener against rival Baltimore. Fans can follow the Divas through their official Twitter account, @dcdivasfootball, to receive scoring updates, player quotes, and much more.
